Originally inspired by a vision for multicultural community growing up in Queens, NY and attending one of the most diverse churches in the city (New Life Fellowship) in my pre- and early-teenage life, my vision for "building a more just world” blossomed via the Multicultural Unity Center at Michigan State 6 years later. Founded by Dr.Jeanne Gazel, who studied the overlaps of South African apartheid & the US racial caste system, this 25 year long program dedicated itself to building relationships across racial difference amongst college students. I have continued to take these principles into my life, through immersive travel, the study of “unity in diversity” across religious, spiritual & identity frameworks, and working as a design consultant and creative coach for the MCC. Today, I continue to seek new ways for multicultural community and global social change to take shape in my life and work.
Inspired by my travels, exploration of holistic healing and evolving critique of our societal values, "The Orchard," is a project connecting people to the fruits of awakening consciousness to earth’s abundance, spirituality and feminine healing for personal and social change. Growing up in a home with 11 siblings, I viewed resources differently then most Americans raised on the principles of individualism and materialism. Throughout my life I have continued to seek ways I can improve my health, wealth, and wellbeing based on cooperation, renewal and regeneration. I am in the process of creating a writing platform dedicated to exploring this multi-dimensional approach, the wisdom of sacred geometry and the process for transmuting what no longer serves us. I believe we have the power to awaken power within ourselves, our communities and institutions for generations to come.
You've heard, "a picture is worth a thousand words." A single graphic has the potential to expand understanding and propel unified action. Designers make complex information accessible. Bring me your business pitches, research findings and raw ideas and allow me to draw forth the essence of your message in a way that will reach broader audiences.
You've heard "form follows function," meaning the aesthetic follows the purpose. As the technological landscape grows, so does the need for good design. Good design is functional, simple, beautiful and saves people time, energy and money. UX specialists bridge technical needs with the human purpose, producing service, websites & app designs.
You've heard "think outside the box," but how do we identify the box we're in? Design Thinking and Creative Strategy are ways of "seeing the water." DT creates a structure for chaos, centering the "why" or values of our work and who needs to be involved, then deconstructing the box we're in to begin new patterns to work toward new goals.
You've heard stories your whole life to illustrate points: fables to instill morals (the boy who cried wolf), miracles to instill faith (Jesus feeding five thousand), historical accounts to inspire nobility and justice (Rosa Parks sitting at the front of the bus). What stories matter most now? And how do we get behind the narratives our culture tells?
